New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) is looking for a highly skilled pharmacist to serve as its Pharmacist Supervisor. NHRMC is the 9th largest health-system in North Carolina with 800 + beds and is a level II trauma, teaching community hospital. In addition to the main campus, NHRMC consists of a 150-bed Women's and Children's Hospital, a 75-bed orthopedic hospital, a 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility, a 62-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital, and an 86-bed critical access hospital. The Department of Pharmacy has 9 administrative positions, 55 Pharmacist FTEs, 49 technician FTEs, and 12 support staff. Pharmacy personnel are intimately involved in direct patient care including interdisciplinary rounds, transitions of care, code response, consult services, and hospital quality measures. The Pharmacist Supervisor will work closely with the Technician Supervisor and Operations Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the central and satellite pharmacies (central, IV center, Women’s & Children’s, operating room, and Zimmer cancer center) at NHRMC. The Pharmacist Supervisor will use LEAN methodology to develop, implement, and continuously improve pharmacy policies and procedures to adhere to regulatory requirements and maintain health-system best practices. Additionally, the Pharmacist Supervisor is responsible for the personnel management of the inpatient, centralized team of over 30 pharmacists. In partnership with the Technician Supervisor, the Pharmacist Supervisor will assist with employee evaluations, and recruitment and training of new employees, pharmacy students, and residents.
Applicants must have graduated from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, have completed a PGY1 residency or equivalent and be eligible for North Carolina licensure. Board Certification and previous health-system practice management experience is encouraged.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) is an 855 bed, certified stroke and level II trauma center, with its primary service area including the seven-county region of Southeastern North Carolina. As a community teaching hospital, NHRMC houses 4 pharmacy residency programs (PGY1 Community-Based, PGY1 Pharmacy, PGY2 Ambulatory Care, PGY2 Critical Care), in addition to 4 medical residency programs (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, and Surgery). NHRMC is home to the Wilmington campus of the UNC School of Medicine and is affiliated with several pharmacy programs, including Campbell, High Point, and Wingate Universities. The health system includes the NHRMC main campus, a free-standing Emergency Department, an orthopedic hospital, and numerous outpatient clinics. The main campus includes a 108 bed Emergency Department, women’s and children’s hospital, a behavioral health hospital, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, and an ambulatory oncology center. The most common disease states encountered include sepsis, pneumonia, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, and trauma.
