Residence Hall Director (male)
The position of Residence Hall Director is a vital role in fulfilling Montreat College’s Christ-centered mission. A Residence Hall Director serves students in a co-curricular capacity within the residence halls through both formal and informal educational opportunities that intentionally builds a safe and healthy community. This role plays a critical part in our relational retention and supporting holistic student success.
Commuter Student Coordinator
This dual role provides the opportunity to serve in another student life professional area with a primary focus on commuter student care. This role will serve commuter students through intentional campus programming, transportation coordination to and from off campus student housing, and other areas of need within the student life team (orientation activities, student conduct, first year experience, international student care, and/or other areas as needed).
Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
Support Montreat College’s Christ-centered mission, vision, and educational objectives through effective and holistic co-curricular programming through the office of Residence Life
Facilitate student interaction, to provide opportunities for their growth and development, and to encourage student involvement through social and educational programs (Bible studies, small groups, intentional programming and community building activities)
Supervise, train, and develop a team of student RAs including serving as a mentor for RAs through weekly staff meetings and regular one-on-ones with RAs
Manage the communication with appropriate persons regarding physical facilities, living environment, and the safety and security of residents
Proactively engage in departmental and institutional persistence efforts to meet retention goals
Serve and care for assigned student cohort with tenacity that promotes student success
Lead, challenge, and support RA team of student staff (Resident Assistants) through a developmental process of planning, publicizing, implementing, celebrating, and reflecting intentional community programs
Responsible for the ongoing supervision, training, and evaluation of student staff relevant to designated areas of student life
Collaborate with other colleagues including faculty and other student life staff to fulfill the department’s mission within the college
Serve on departmental and institutional committees as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Agreement with the Montreat College Statement of Faith • Self-motivated with ability to work independently • Desire to create and maintain a culture of servant leadership and excellence • Residence Life experience preferred • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
Organizational and managerial skills
Commitment to demonstrating an active Christian faith through personal example and interaction • Flexible; innovative, creative and energetic; detail-oriented • Bachelor degree required, Master degree in related field preferred
Qualifications/Expectations: A welcoming, service-oriented person who relationally connects well with people and capable of getting tasks done in a timely manner. Desire to create and maintain a culture of servant leadership excellence. Must be a good communicator who is highly organized, detail oriented, and able to adapt. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with good time management skills.
